I am a senior research specialist at the Center for Political Studies at the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan.
I received my Ph.D. in Communication in 2012 from the University of Michigan and my undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Before joining the Center for Political Studies, I was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Communication Studies, University of Michigan. The main focus of my research is the political effects of the mass media. My work deals with attention to political media and political engagement. This includes both traditional and non-traditional channels and sources for politics, such as the news, Twitter and other social media, late night talk shows, and interpersonal discussion. I examine how political predispositions and messages in the media environment interact to affect political attitudes and behaviors. |
